+ POOL’s water science education
+ POOL, an organization building a floating, water-filtering swimming pool in the NYC river, is working to promote water stewardship among children.
I led a team of 4 designers through scoping the project with the client, conducting market research, designing, developing, and pitching.
+ POOL came to us wanting to redesign their existing home-made water filtration kit. However, through a phase of research and scoping, we asked bigger question to help + POOL figure out the bigger goal of this initiative:
How does this kit fit into + POOL’s vision for education and reducing environmental impact?
What’s experience for a child & parent to engage with + POOL’s water education?
How might we create a playful, at-home experience that helps kids fall in love with water?
The project outcome was a series of water science field guides for the next generation of New York’s water stewards – intentionally designed to build on existing initiatives like their Blue Fish swim class and to unify the + POOL experience.
